Over half a million RHD Mercedes may have a steering problem

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 528,640 right-hand drive A-Class, B-Class, CLA, EQA, EQB, GLA and GLB vehicles manufactured between 2017 and 2024 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that the fallback level of the steering software does not comply with the specification. In the event of a non-systematic and independent hardware fault, the steering power assistance could be impaired and a loss of steering capability cannot be ruled out.

In an authorised workshop, the electric steering software will be updated.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “013692“. The internal manufacturer code is “5499117“.
