Fuel leakage and fire
Ford is recalling more than half a million cars due to an issue with fuel line abrasion. If the pipe wears through, fuel could leak into the hot engine compartment and potentially cause the vehicle to catch fire. A total of 524,754 cars manufactured between 19 November 2021 and 24 September 2024 are being recalled, including the Fiesta, Puma, Tourneo Courier and Transit Courier models.
Poor emissions due to faulty software
Peugeot has announced a recall of older 308 models. Vehicles manufactured between 2013 and 2018 may have lower than normal exhaust gas temperatures due to a fault in the engine control unit software. This could cause them to exceed permitted emission limits. A total of 24,123 vehicles manufactured between 16 October 2013 and 26 August 2018 are affected.
Missing seat bolts
As demonstrated by Kia, electric cars can have issues beyond faulty software or batteries. The luxury EV9 SUV may be missing seat mounting screws in all three rows. In the event of an accident, inadequately secured seats increase the risk of injury to occupants. Kia is recalling 36,288 vehicles produced between 18 August 2023 and 30 August 2024.
