Citroen, Peugeot and Opel hybrids may catch fire when charging

Peugeot is recalling 18,479 vehicles of the 3008 and 508 model series manufactured between 2. 7. 2019 and 12. 10. 2022. The recall is due to a possible overheating of the battery which can cause a fire, even during charging.

The same problem may occur with 13,273 Citroen C5 Aircross and DS7 models manufactured between 7. 3. 2019 and 27. 9. 2021 and 7,960 Opel Grandland X vehicles with the production period between 2. 7. 2019 and 19. 8. 2021.

At an authorised workshop, depending on the findings, either the battery management system (BMS) software will be updated or the battery will be replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “15575R, 15574R, 15577R“. The internal manufacturer codes are “GK8, MYF, KT8“.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact a dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
