This week’s recalls:
– Citroen, Peugeot – two-seater passenger seat headrests

Six recalls for eight models of four carmakers were announced via Rapex in the 24th week of 2022.
Citroen and Peugeot have announced two recalls, while DS and Mercedes-Benz have one each – see the table at the end of the article.

The notch locking mechanism of the headrest to the two-seater passenger seat may be missing with Peugeot and Citroen vans built between mid-November and mid-December 2021. As a result, the front head restraints are not properly secured and may be ejected in a collision, increasing the risk of injury. German sources say the defect is also present in the related Toyota ProAce but has not yet been reported in the Rapex.
The electrical supply to the water heater unit can shut off too soon when the vehicle is stopped with the Peugeot 508, DS7 Crossback and Citroen C5 Aircross. Fuel can therefore remain in the heater, producing smoke and fuel leakage, increasing the fire risk. Vehicles built between 2018 and 2021 should head for a service check.

Mercedes-Benz is recalling over 220,000 Vito vans that have been equipped with a rearview camera. At low temperatures, the camera can display incorrect information (frozen images). The recall involves vans manufactured between 16 April 2014 and 23 July 2020. A week ago, Mercedes added the Vito and V-Class vans to the list of vehicles being recalled in action we reported on in the article Fire risk: Mercedes-Benz extends recall to nearly one million cars.
