BMW X3: Engine failure or even fire risk

BMW is recalling 307 X3 vehicles manufactured between 9 July 2024 and 3 February 2025 to authorized workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that inadequate screw connection of the 48V positive cable to the starter generator can lead to engine failure. In the worst-case scenario, heat development resulting in fire cannot be ruled out.

In an authorized workshop, the screw connection of the B+ cable to the starter generator will be checked. If necessary, the starter generator and the battery cable (including the underfloor section) will be replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14878R“. The internal manufacturer code is “0012350600“.
