BMW X3: Dangerous headrests in the event of an accident

BMW is recalling 9,504 X3 vehicles manufactured between 12 April 2021 and 12 June 2025 to authorized workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that the locking pins on the outer head restraints in the second row of seats may not have been installed correctly. In the event of a collision, the protective effect may be reduced. The head restraint may come loose on one side and parts may fall out.

At an authorised workshop, the two outer head restraints on the rear seat will be replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “15398R“. The internal manufacturer code is “0052250200“.
