BMW recalls various model series: Danger in case of airbag deployment

BMW is recalling 358,071 vehicles worldwide with model series 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, M2, M3, M4, X1, X3, X4, X5, X5M, X6 and X6M manufactured from 2012 to 2014. The reason for the measure is a fault in the gas generator of the passenger airbag; this can lead to uncontrolled deployment when the airbag is deployed and to the release of metal fragments that could injure the occupants. In Germany, 78,302 vehicles are affected.

The airbag module on the passenger side will be replaced in the workshop by a component with a different propellant. The KBA is monitoring the recall under the reference numbers “012378”, and the internal code is “0032390300”.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact a dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
