The problem with the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler on BMW diesel models, which we have been reporting on since 2018, has now, for the first time, become the reason for a warning from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) for Mini models as well.
According to a database entry, the recall with the internal code “0011370700” affects 20,642 vehicles of all models in Germany alone (see table). Worldwide numbers are not given in the KBA report. These are cars produced between 2013 and 2019. A leak in the exhaust gas recirculation module can lead to a vehicle fire.
The EGR cooler on the recalled vehicles will be checked and, if necessary, replaced with an optimised version.
