BMW recalls 1,5 million cars of 17 model series due to brake problems

Originally published 16 April 2024, updated 25 September 2024.
BMW is recalling 371,756 1,493,890 of the 1 Series, 2 Series, 5 Series, M5, 7 Series, i5, i7, iX1, iX2, X1, X2, X5, X6, X7, XM, X5M and X6M vehicles manufactured between 2022 and 2024 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that the signal fault can lead to the failure of the hydraulic brake assist. ABS and DSC will not be available. This may result in a longer braking distance.

In an authorised workshop, the integrated braking system in the affected vehicles will be replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “013586“. The internal manufacturer code is “0034670200“.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact a dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
