BMW 5 Series, 7 Series, I5 and I7: The steering-based driver assistants may fail

BMW is recalling 56,894 vehicles of the 5 Series, 7 Series, I5 and I7 Series manufactured between 9. 6. 2022 and 1. 9. 2023 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that an insufficient screw connection of the earth contact to the steering wheel can lead to faults in steering-based driver assistance systems.

This recall affects only vehicles with “Driving Assistant Plus” and “Driving Assistant Professional” with optional “Autobahnassistent”.

In an authorised workshop, the screw connection of the earth contact to the steering wheel is checked and reworked if necessary.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “013262“. The internal manufacturer code is “0032470300“.
