BMW 3 Series (E46): The front passenger airbag can injure the occupants

BMW is recalling 196,665 vehicles of the 3 Series (E46) manufactured between 1999 and 2006 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that a fault in the gas generator of the front passenger airbag can lead to uncontrolled deployment and release of metal fragments that can injure the occupants when the airbag is deployed.

In an authorised workshop, the front passenger airbag will be replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “013137“. The internal manufacturer codes are “0072960100, 0072110200, 0072460200“.
