Badly welded headrests with VW, cracked belt tensioners with PSA Group (week 51/18)

Nine recalls for nine models of six carmakers were announced in the 51st week of 2018. Two recalls were announced by Volkswagen, Peugeot and Citroën, while Mitsubishi, Maserati and Cadillac had one each. In the list of motorcycles, we can find new recalls for KTM, Husqvarna and Yamaha this week.

Volkswagen’s Arteon, Passat, Golf and T-Roc made from May to August 2018 may have poorly welded fittings for headrests in the rear seats. From our other site, car-recalls.co.uk, we already know that the same problem also occurs with the Skoda Octavia and Skoda Karoq, which are not yet listed in the Rapex report. Others, according to our information, should be the Audi A3 and Q2 as well as Seat’s Ateca. When it is officially released in the Rapex report, we will inform you in advance.

We can find the VW T-Roc in the Rapex report once more this week. Its second appearance concerns a poorly glued rear spoiler with cars manufactured from January to June 2018.

Two recalls were also announced with the twins Peugeot 4007 and Citroën C-Crosser. In both, the panoramic sunroof glass may fly away while driving and the dynamic tensioner of the accessory belt may crack in the area of the tensioner strap. The strap could consequently break and the belt fall, resulting in a loss of power steering, the battery discharging and the engine overheating. In November, for the same reason, Mitsubishi also recalled other related ASX and Outlander models.

Maserati, Mitsubishi and Cadillac

With the Maserati Quattroporte (Model Year 2015-2017) there may be a problem with a fuel pump, while with the old Lancers from 2003-2008 there is another of a series of recalls due to the Takata airbag and the owners of Cadillac CTS built between 2013 and 2016 should be careful, so that the car does not burn under their behind due to a short circuit in the seat heating.

Motorcycles

This week, the database of our moto-recalls.eu page has expanded more than usual. The carburettor slide may stick in the fully open position with the new KTM 50 SX (2018) and Husqvarna TC 50 (2018). The nut on the oil line may have been insufficiently tightened with the Yamaha SR400 (2013-2016) and the chain guard may become detached and fall onto the road with both the Yamaha MT-07 (2016-2018) and the Yamaha Tracer 700 (2016-2018).

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
