Overview of the recalls in 48th week of 2023

Six recalls for 16 models of seven carmakers were issued via Rapex in the 48th week of 2023. Another seven recalls for seven models were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

Citroën, DS, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Peugeot, Tesla and Volvo have one each in Rapex this week.

Cadillac, Jeep, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Peugeot and Toyota are also recalling through the KBA.

Stellantis: Excessive emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Due to an error in the specific calibration software of the electronic engine control unit (ECU), an incorrect value may be given when the data are processed by the vehicle. This may result in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions that are above the regulatory limits. The recall applies to 134,722 vehicles in the Citroen C3, Citroen C5 Aircross, DS DS3 Crossback, DS DS4, Opel Astra, Opel Grandland, Opel Mokka, Peugeot 208, Peugeot 3008, Peugeot 308, and Peugeot 5008 model ranges produced in 2022 and 2023. The exact production dates are listed in the recall details for each model.

Brake fluid on Tesla and windows on Mercedes

Due to a software error, the control unit may not detect when the brake fluid level is low on almost 74,000 Tesla Model X electric cars built between February 2021 and September 2023. Nearly two hundred Mercedes C-Class, EQE and GLC cars that rolled off the production line between September 12 and 25, 2023, may have improperly attached front, rear and side windows. These can fall out, and if the windscreen comes loose, the front airbag may not have the necessary support, increasing the risk of injury.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
