The first recall with the Skoda Octavia Mk4 and the Mercedes-Benz GLB (week 32/20)

Skoda-Octavia-4-mercedes-glb-recall

This week’s recalls:
– Skoda Octavia Mk4 – e-call
– Mercedes GLB – water penetration
– Toyota Prius – short circuit

4 recalls for 4 models were issued by three carmakers in the 32nd week of 2020 through the Rapex system. Toyota announced two actions, while Mercedes-Benz and Skoda issued one recall each.

The eCall service may not work properly with the new Skoda Octavia Mk4 manufactured between November 2019 and May 2020. The call centre/rescue coordination centre cannot be activated because of the lack of audio connection and data transmission. The driver will not be able to get help through the system in the event of a fault or accident.

We also register the first recall with the Mercedes GLB class. The bodywork around the front wheelhouses has not been sealed in accordance with the specifications, allowing water to penetrate into the front foot spaces and damage the control units and other electrical components installed in those areas. As a result, the instrument cluster could stop showing information, the braking assistance (e.g. ABS, ESP) could be restricted, or the engine could stall while driving or no longer be able to start.

Toyota recalled twice this week. With the Land Cruiser Prado, the pipe connecting the fuel pump to the main fuel line may come loose due to engine vibration. With the Toyota Prius produced in July 2019, a short circuit may occur in the instrument panel, which may cause the speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge to malfunction.

See the table below for all the recalls from this week.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
