An incorrectly installed condensation drain hose from the air conditioning system can lead to leakage currents or short circuits with the Mercedes A-Class. For the same reason, GLE models were recalled last October.
With the W177 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the condensation drain hose of the air conditioning system may not have been installed correctly. In such a case, there is the possibility of condensation from the air conditioning system penetrating into the vehicle interior, more precisely into the footwell on the driver and passenger side.
“As a result, corrosion could occur on the electrical components installed there and/or short circuits or leakage currents could occur,” a Daimler spokeswoman told asp-Online.

The possible effects are different: the SRS control unit could fail, the vehicle could not be started, the engine emergency mode could be activated while driving or the functions of other components (e.g. fuel pump, automatic/manual emergency call) could become impaired.
The recall with the internal code “8391001” affects 135,454 vehicles worldwide from the production period between September 2017 to February 2019. As a remedial measure, the test is carried out at the authorized workshop and, if necessary, the condensate drain hose is installed correctly. This should take about 30 minutes.
