opel-peugeot-citroen-timing-belt-recall

This week’s recalls:
– Citroën, DS, Peugeot, Opel – brake booster failure
– BMW, Volkswagen – Takata airbags
– Lamborghini – carbon hood cover

Seven recalls for 21 models of seven makes were announced via Rapex in the 24th week of 2023. Five more recalls were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

The manufacturers BMW, Citroen, DS Automobiles, Lamborghini, Opel, Peugeot and Volkswagen have one recall each at Rapex.

Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz are also recalling through the KBA.

We wrote about the problems with the brake booster on Stellantis cars back in the autumn of 2020 in the article Peugeot and Citroën to recall 1.2-litre petrol engines. The brake booster may fail and also a year later, in the article PSA Group (Citroen, Opel, Peugeot) reports more problems with timing belts.

Back then these cars rolled off the assembly line between March 2013 and April 2017. The new recalls apply to cars built between 2017 and 2019 at Citroën and 2017 – 2020 at Peugeot. Although the lack of vacuum pump lubrication is mentioned this time, the problem is still the same – a timing belt in oil.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
