Toyota-Lexus-camera-failure

This week’s recalls:
– Toyota, Lexus – camera
– Ford, Audi – brakes
– Škoda – emissions

Overview of the recalls in the 28th week of 2024

Six recalls for sixteen models of six manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 28 of 2024. Two recalls for four models were announced via the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system for Audi, Ford, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Opel and Toyota.

Peugeot and Skoda are recalling via the KBA.

Toyota and Lexus: Camera failure

Camera housings can come apart due to improper welding with a total of 11 Toyota and Lexus models produced between 2022 and 2023 (see table at the end of the article). This can lead to water ingress and potential short circuits. Thus, the front or rear camera may not transmit an image.

Brakes at Ford and Audi

The braking system may have been contaminated with mineral oil in Ford Transit Courier and Tourneo Courier vehicles manufactured between August and November 2023. This can lead to swelling of the rubber components of the braking system, increased brake pedal travel and reduced braking performance. With the Audi Q8 e-tron, the screw connections on the brake hoses may have been over-tightened during manufacture. This can lead to brake fluid leaks. In both cases, around three hundred cars could be affected.

Skoda diesel engine emissions

A “voluntary service measure to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides” for the Skoda Octavia and Superb with EA288 diesel engines has appeared in the KBA database. However, Škoda Auto Deutschland’s press department claims “no recall campaign for this”. The Skoda Auto Czech press office has not yet responded to our query. Read more in the article linked below.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
