2017-vw-crafter-rear-window

This week’s recalls:
– VW Crafter – side and/or rear windows
– Volvo XC60 – windshield wipers
– Mercedes Sprinter – glow time amplifier

3 recalls for 3 models were issued by three carmakers in the 37th week of 2020 through the Rapex system. Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Volvo announced one recall each.

Due to a manufacturing error, the glue used to affix the side and/or rear windows has insufficient adhesion with the VW Crafter vans manufactured between January 2017 and September 2019. The windows may become detached from the vehicle, posing a risk to the following traffic.

The fastening nut of the fastening part of the front wipers is not tightened with the correct torque with the Volvo XC60 SUVs with a production date between May 2017 and May 2020. The front windshield wipers may malfunction increasing the risk of an accident. The recall concerns over half a million vehicles and we wrote about it in a separate article.

With the Mercedes Sprinter vans manufactured between March 2018 to March 2020, the glow time amplifier may be damaged in the event of an accident, which can lead to a short circuit and an increased risk of fire.

See the table below for all the recalls from this week.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
