Overview of the recalls in 34th week of 2023

Seven recalls for 41 models of seven carmakers were announced via Rapex in the 34th week of 2023. Five more recalls were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

Citroen, Cupra, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Hyundai, Kia, Opel and Peugeot have one recall each at Rapex.

Hyundai, Jeep, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz and Suzuki are also recalling through the KBA.

Urea injection

Over one million (1,052,176) vehicles of the Stellantis brands Citroën, Peugeot, DS, Opel (Vauxhall) and Fiat may fail to warn of the deactivated SCR catalytic converter due to incorrect calibration of the urea pump diagnostics. A malfunctioning urea injector can lead to higher emissions. The affected vehicles will have their engine control unit (ECU) software updated at an authorized service center. All 34 affected models can be found in the table at the end of this article.

Hyundai and Kia

Kia is recalling 118,580 older cars in the Cerato, Forte, Optima, Sorento, and Sportage model lines this week. Due to a manufacturing defect, fuel or oil leaks can cause the engine to overheat and subsequently fail. This can endanger surrounding traffic and cause a fire. Hyundai is recalling 2,532 Kona SUVs manufactured in late 2022 and early 2023. The seat belt locks on the rear seat are defective and do not lock.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
