The 2021 Skoda Fabia may have a manufacturing defect. The backrest of the right rear seat is incorrectly welded.

“The welds of the middle frame of the backrest in the 60% part of the rear seat may not be strong enough,” Pavel Jína, Spokesperson of Škoda Auto Czech Republic, confirmed to Car-Recalls.eu. In the event of an accident, the occupant may not be adequately restrained in the seat and may be injured.

The recall applies to 1,178 Fabias produced between 25 February and 15 March 2021.

Authorised Škoda service partners will replace the backrest frame on affected vehicles. The owners have already been informed by letter, according to a spokesman. The manufacturer has announced this recall under the internal code “72M5”.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
