Nine recalls for 13 models of six carmakers were announced in the 7th week of 2019. Traditionally, Mercedes-Benz had the most issues – this time four, while Alfa Romeo, Audi, Dodge, Seat, and Skoda announced one each.
Already in our overview of Skoda Auto Recalls in 2018 – see here – we wrote about an upcoming recall due to defective headrests in the rear seats with the Skoda Karoq models made from May to August 2018. This week the recall appears in the Rapex´s list also with the Skoda Octavia from the same production period. A similar problem is experienced with the Seat Ateca and with the Audi Q2, Audi A3, as well as the Volkswagen Golf, Passat, T-Roc and Arteon, recalled back in December and January.
With the Audi A6 Avant, manufactured from April to October 2018, the bonding of the components of the sunroof may be affected due to contamination during its manufacture. Consequently, there could be leaks in the sunroof or the rear glass panel could even detach.
Alfa Romeo
For the third time in a row, Alfa Romeo is showing up in Rapex’s weekly notifications. The last two recalls were announced for the Stelvio SUV and this time the Alfa Romeo Giulia appears on the list. A fastening point of the cooling circuit line may damage the brake circuit line with cars manufactured between September 2016 and March 2018. The performance of the brake system could be reduced.
Mercedes-Benz
Production in some period of 2018 also affects three of Mercedes‘s four recalls. With the A-class, B-class and CLA models a bolt in the locking mechanism of the articulated trailer coupling is defective. It could break while a trailer is being towed and consequently the trailer could detach. The A-Class may also have a problem with the front seat backrests. With the C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class, the defective sensors on the seat belt locks may cause the belt pre-tensioners to fail in the event of an accident. Mercedes’s fourth action this week is an extension of an earlier recall due to the possible power steering blocking with the C-Class, E-Class and CLS models.
Dodge
While just last week Dodge recalled earlier RAM models because the locking mechanism of their tailgate can easily break, this time they announce a recall for newer models. The rear differential may have been insufficiently filled with oil with the Dodge RAM 1500/4000 Pickup produced from April to August 2018. This can cause damage in the axle drive and cause the rear wheels to lock.
