3 Skoda recalls in 2018 – VIN lookup

In 2018, Skoda announced 3 recalls that affected 5 of its models, according to the Rapex notifications. How to check your VIN for free to see if any of them is also relevant to your car?

The first Skoda´s recall in 2018 was announced in January. Skoda Superb and Skoda Octavia, manufactured between the August 24 to 29, 2017, may struggle with insufficient strength of the rear wheel bearing housing. This could lead to failure of the rear wheel bearing housing with loss of wheel control.

In February, Skoda recalled the Rapid and Citigo models. In this case, however, there were no repairs, but only replacement of the towing eye fitted to the vehicle which may break during use and the tow-rope may strike persons.

With the Skoda Karoq produced between 10 October 2017 and 19 November 2017, the parts of the covering of the A-pillar could break off in the event of the curtain airbag being deployed. The recall was announced by Rapex in March.

* We’ve divided all the recalls according to the models into the table at the end of the article.

Expected recalls in 2019

Besides our main source in the EU Rapex system database, we also use the data from the UK organization VOSA on car-recalls.co.uk. From this source, we already know that with the Skoda Karoq, two recalls will be announced through the Rapex in the near future. One of them has the code “45H5” and concerns the spontaneous release of the parking brake – we wrote here – and the second with the code “72I3” will be due to poorly welded headrests – see here.
