This week’s recalls:
– Seat – Takata airbags
– Hyundai – immobiliser
– Toyota, Lexus – crankshaft bearings

Overview of the recalls in the 25th week of 2024

Four recalls for ten models of five manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 25 of 2024. Three recalls for three models were announced via the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system for Hyundai, Lexus, Seat, Toyota and Volkswagen.

Hyundai recalls via the KBA.

Takata airbags at Seat

The propellant in the driver’s airbag can deteriorate over time with Seat Altea, Leon and Alhambra models equipped with Takata airbags and manufactured between May 2009 and June 2010. In the event of airbag activation, inflator fragments may injure vehicle occupants. This is not the first recall this year for defective airbags. Several car manufacturers have issued them, and all can be found in our archives under the airbag tag.

Three Hyundai recalls

This week, the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt—KBA) released information on three Hyundai recalls. Some of these we have already reported on, and some are new. Airbags, the immobilizer, the driveshaft, or a faulty charging process in electric cars are to blame. Check out all of this year’s Hyundai recalls via the KBA and also via Europe’s Safety Gate system.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
