This week´s recalls:
– Mercedes GLE – drain hose air-condition
– Mercedes S-Class – A, B and C pillar trims
– Mercedes A-Class – spare wheel fitting
– Audi A4 and A5 – airbag control unit

Four recalls for five models of two carmakers were issued in the 42nd week of 2019. Three actions for three models were announced by Mercedes-Benz, while Audi had one for two.

Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz GLE, manufactured between August 2018 to August 2019, may have a poorly guided drain hose of the air conditioning system. Consequently, condensed water could enter the passenger compartment and damage or short-circuit several electric components, causing the engine to stop or run in emergency mode while driving.

Even the Mercedes flagship S-Class does not avoid problems. With cars manufactured from June to September 2018 the A, B and C pillar trims may not have been correctly fastened. In the event of an accident, the trims may impair the efficacy of the window airbags, it might be detached and propelled into the passenger compartment.

The shielding plate under the spare wheel may also become detached with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class manufactured between January and July 2018. Cracks could form on the plate, leading to its complete shear and loss of small parts of it, increasing the risk of an accident for the following traffic.

Audi

A damaged transistor may have been installed in the Audi A4 and Audi A5 airbag control unit during the 21st and 22nd weeks of 2019. Consequently, it may not properly make contact leading to the passenger airbag not to be triggered in the event of an accident.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
