Worldwide, 133,000 Mazda CX-30 require an update of the electric tailgate’s control unit, as was recently announced by the German headquarters of the Japanese manufacturer.
Of the total number of compact SUVs concerned, 71,000 are registered in Europe, approximately 18,000 in Germany. They rolled off the assembly line between April 25, 2019, and October 15, 2020.
According to Mazda, the electric tailgate can slowly lower itself from the fully open position during loading and unloading. “However, there is no risk of the tailgate lowering completely due to this defect,” said the written notice. In addition, problems should only occur with a combination of stopping on an incline and high ambient temperatures at the same time.
In addition to the software update, some vehicles are also due for repair. The Mazda dealerships will check the lot number of the right and left drive unit of the electric tailgate. In the case of a certain batch, there is an exchange with modified components. Then the action with the internal code “AM006A” takes about 80 minutes. The pure software update is done in under 15 minutes.
