Eight recalls of six manufacturers were issued for 15 models in the 21st week of 2021 through the Rapex system.
Mercedes-Benz has three new recalls, while Dacia, Kia, Lexus, Opel and Toyota have each announced one.
A short circuit can occur in the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)/Electronic Stability Program (ESP) module of the Kia Sportage SUVs. This could lead to an excessive current flow that can increase fire risk in the engine compartment, with 1.7 million vehicles built between March 19, 2015, and October 23, 2020. This is the same defect that caused Hyundai to recall the Tucson SUV in March – we reported here.
Nearly 25,000 Dacian Logan and Sandero models built between September 2020 and January 2021 could scare their owners by opening the bonnet while driving. We wrote about the problem here.

This week, Mercedes-Benz has the most models in one recall – seven in total. With the 2012-2020 CLA-Class, GLA, A-Class, C-Class, S-Class, GLC, GLE, the polycarbonate roof panel located between the windscreen and the panoramic roof may not have been bonded correctly during a previous repair. The panel could become detached from the vehicle, posing a risk to other road users. Nearly 17,000 vehicles could be affected.
The anabasis with the faulty towbars continues this week with Opel Grandland. As with last week’s Citroën C5 Aircross and Peugeot 3008 recalls, the trailer coupling device may be defective. We’ve found 20 cars in our archive that have had a recall in the last five years due to some towbar fault – check the list here.
Cracks could form on the electrically heated windscreen washer jets of a Toyota Land Cruiser due to unsuitable sealing material. Water could enter the heating element and cause a short circuit, increasing the risk of fire. A related Lexus LX has the same defect. Over 90,000 cars from 2012 to 2020 are being recalled.
