Hundreds of thousands of cars recalled by Honda, BMW and Dodge (week 31/24)

BMW-recall-emissions

This week’s recalls:
– BMW – airbags, emissions
– Honda – fuel pump
– Dodge RAM – emissions

Overview of the recalls in the 31st week of 2024

Three recalls for 11 models of three manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 31 of 2024. Four recalls for nine models were announced via the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system for BMW, Ford and Mercedes-Benz.

BMW, Dodge (RAM), Honda and Nissan are recalling via the KBA.

Airbags and emissions with BMW

Seven BMW models from 2012 to 2014 (see table at the end of the article) are being recalled again because of dangerous Takata airbags. This time, it is about two thousand cars, but it is apparently an addition to the original recall from 2023 when 725,787 cars were recalled. BMW’s second recall this week can be found in the KBA database. This one is for 187,097 BMW X3s built between 2010 and 2014. The reason is to remove illegal interference with the effectiveness of the emission control system.

Fuel pump with Honda

Fuel pump impeller problems with Honda are nothing new. We last wrote about it last month. The impeller has improper material density and can absorb fuel, causing it to warp and stall the fuel pump and engine. But thanks to KBA’s database, we now know that the problem affects more than three million cars of at least six model lines worldwide.

Dodge (RAM) emissions

The Dodge recall affects 643,846 RAM 2500 and RAM 3500 pickup trucks manufactured between 2012 and 2018. It cites the circumvention of US emissions regulations by installing unauthorised defeat devices. The engine control software will be updated at an authorised workshop. In addition, 17,563 RAM 3500, RAM 2500, and RAM 1500 pickups manufactured between 2022 and 2023 are also being recalled. A faulty weld in the steering column control module may cause no trigger signal to be sent to the driver’s airbag in the event of an accident.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
