Headrest fitting may be defective with BMW and Audi (week 40/19)

This week’s recalls:
– Audi, BMW – headrests
– Mercedes-Benz SL – airbag
– Nissan NV300 – fuel tank
– Renault Master – leaf springs

Five recalls for 6 models of 5 manufacturers were announced in the 40th week of 2019. Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Renault issued one recall each.

Two manufacturers are reporting problems with the headrests this week. The rear seat restraint may be defective with the Audi A3 and Audi Q2 from the second half of February 2019. The rear seat restraint may break with the BMW 3 Series manufactured from late June to early August 2019.

Due to the rear head restraints, the Audi A3 was recalled already in March, as was the case also with the Škoda Karoq, Škoda Octavia and Seat Ateca.

Mercedes-Benz

The passenger airbag may not have been sewn together in accordance with the specifications with the SL Class Mercedes produced between March and November 2018. The seam at the edges can rip open when it is deployed.

Nissan and Renault

Due to a manufacturing defect in the fuel tank, fuel may leak out onto the road with the Nissan NV300. A related Renault Trafic was recalled for the same reason previously. In both cases, the vans were produced between March 7 and March 14, 2019.

Renault is also recalling its larger Master van this week. The rear leaf springs were not tightened to the required torque and may become loose with cars manufactured from March to July 2018.
