Audi A4, A5, A6, A7 and Q5 MHEV with a risk of fire, poorly mounted spoiler with VW Tiguan (week 19/20)

This week’s recalls:
– Audi – short circuit and fire
– VW Tiguan – rear spoiler
– Opel Corsa – steering column

Six recalls for 10 models were issued by four carmakers in the 19th week of 2020 through the Rapex system. Audi announced three actions, while Bentley, Opel a Volkswagen issued one recall each.

Moisture can penetrate into the belt starter generator (RSG – Riemen-Starter-Generator) with the Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, and Q5 models equipped with the Mild-Hybrid (MHEV) system in combination with the 2.0 TFSI engine and manufactured between May 2017 and March 2019. This can result in a short circuit, leading to local overheating and increased risk of fire. Due to the permanent power supply of the starter generator, this can occur when the vehicle has already been parked for a while. We wrote about the problem in a separate article:

The other two Audi recalls concern the TT model (fuel tank damage) and Audi A8 (rear axle suspension).

The roof-edge spoiler may not be secured enough due to an incorrect adhesive bond with the Volkswagen Tiguan manufactured between 24 October 2015 and 30 June 2019. The spoiler may become detached in motion, posing a risk to the following traffic.

The steering column is not manufactured according to the specifications with the Opel Corsa produced in the third quarter of 2019. This may cause steering failure and lead to loss of control over the vehicle.
