Toyota’s memory may deteriorate. Almost a million cars are being recalled (week 33/25)

Toyota-memory-deteriorate

This week’s recalls:
– Toyota, Lexus – software error
– Citroen, Opel – airbags
– DS, Jeep – fire risk

Overview of recalls in the 33 week of 2025

Five recalls for 20 models of six brands were announced via EU Safety Gate in the 33 week of 2025. Five recalls for six models of four brands have been published by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall each will be found this week in the European Safety Gate system for the Citroen, DS Automobiles, Jeep, Lexus, Opel and Toyota.

Through the German KBA, the Citroen, Opel , Peugeot and Polestar carmakers are recalling.

Memory deterioration

A flaw in the vehicle’s combination meter programming causes it to deteriorate its memory in seven Toyota and Lexus models (see the table at the end of the article for details). As a result, the monitor screen may stop working, meaning the driver will not be able to see speedometer readings or warning messages. Around 900,000 cars produced between 2022 and 2025 may be affected by the fault.

And the airbags again

Dangerous airbags are not missing from the list of reasons to recall this week either. This time, it’s older models from Citroën and Opel. A list of them can be found again in the table at the end of the article.

Fire risk

Several Stellantis models are being recalled due to loose nuts in the high-pressure hose, which can cause fuel to escape between the high-pressure pump and the rail. This week, two DS Automobiles models and 2024 to 2025 Jeep Avengers are being recalled. Our information is that this will be a larger-scale recall, and that other makes and models will follow. Stay tuned! 😉

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
