VW/Seat recall: seatbelt reminder has limited function

VW-T-Cross-seatbelt-reminder

On some VW T-Cross vehicles, the rear seat belt reminder may not function properly even if rear seat occupants are not wearing seat belts. This also applies to some Seat vehicles.

An improperly functioning seat belt reminder causes a recall for VW’s T-Cross and some Seat vehicles of the Arona and Ibiza models. A visual or audible warning is not consistently given unless rear-seat passengers wear seat belts.

The remedy is to update the instrument cluster software, which takes about half an hour at an authorised service centre. In the case of the SUV T-Cross, 13,464 vehicles from the production period 9. 9. 2020 to 2. 7. 2021 are affected worldwide; the internal code is “90S4“.

The number of Spanish SUVs is significantly lower. A total of 986 vehicles built between 14 and 23 June 2021 are affected. The recall code for Seat is “90S5“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
