10 recalls for 9 models of 7 carmakers were announced in the 12th week of 2019. Mercedes-Benz announced three recalls for the Sprinter van, two were released by BMW and one by Audi, Volkswagen, Renault, Fiat and Isuzu. In the motorcycles section, there are new recalls for KTM, Yamaha and Triumph.
All three Mercedes-Benz´s recalls announced through the Rapex System concern their Sprinter model. The most extensive is for the vans produced between 2013 and 2018, which the failure of the glow plug relay may result in an electrical short circuit, increasing the risk of fire. With the cars produced last autumn, the trailer couplings may develop cracks and the rear axle region of vehicles with the air suspension may be poorly welded. With the Fiat Ducato made between August to October 2018, fuel can leak and catch fire. Renault Trafics from 2017 may have poorly guided seat belts.
BMW
Two recalls were announced this week by BMW. The first is for the nearly 20-year-old BMW X5 and BMW 5 Series due to faulty driver airbags, the second due to poorly bolted seats not only concerns the new BMW X5 but also the latest BMW X7 produced at the end of last year.
VW Group
Troubles with backrests for the VW Group vehicles continues. Previously, we reported on poorly welded head restraints with the Audi, Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda models produced from May to August 2018 – see the link below. In addition, the Audi A3 now has been found that it lacks a locking pin on the center backrest. With the Volkswagen Polo produced between 2016-2018, the parking brake may not operate correctly.
Isuzu D-Max
Rear axle leaf springs can break due to manufacturing defects with the Isuzu D-Max produced from February to October 2018.
