This week’s recalls:
– Renault Master – fire risk
– Mercedes Sprinter – leaf springs
– Audi, Škoda – airbags
– Mini – EGR cooler

Overview of the recalls in the 32nd week of 2024

Three recalls for nine models of three manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 32 of 2024. Six recalls for 12 models were announced via the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system for Ford, Renault and Skoda.

Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Peugeot and Tesla are recalling via the KBA.

Renault and Mercedes vans

The diesel fuel line is too close to the wiring harness, which can cause the fuel line to rub against the wires and wear out in the more than 80,000 Renault Masters produced between 2014 and 2023, potentially leading to fuel leaks and a fire risk. Nearly 7,000 2023 Mercedes Sprinters are also being recalled. The first problem is that non-hardened spring clamps on the rear axle can lead to insufficient preload force, which can cause the rear axle to lean. The second may be defective welds on the body’s B-pillar reinforcement.

Skoda and Audi airbags

We’ve already reported on the recall of 86,000 older Skodas for Takata airbags, and this week, you’ll find details of the recall for all affected models from 2012 to 2014 in the table at the end of the article. Audi is also recalling this week over the Takata airbags. Nearly 190,000 A3 and A4 model year 2004 to 2013 vehicles are expected to head for a driver airbag replacement.

EGR cooler recall also for Mini

The problem with the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler with BMW diesel models, which we have been reporting on since 2018, has now, for the first time, become the reason for a warning from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) also for Mini models – see link below.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
