This week’s recalls:
– BMW 7 a i7 – wind-shield wipers
– Alfa Romeo Tonale – fire risk
– Škoda Octavia – steering knuckle

Overview of the recalls in 42nd week of 2023

Four recalls for five models of four carmakers were announced via Rapex in the 42nd week of 2023. Five more recalls were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

Alfa Romeo, BMW, Peugeot and Škoda have one recall each at Rapex.

Fiat, Ford, Jeep, Land Rover and Maserati are also recalling through the KBA.

Windscreen wipers at BMW, fire risk at Alfa Romeo

The windscreen wipers can become stuck in any position when activated on the 14,790 BMW 7 Series and i7 Series manufactured between October 2022 and January 2023. This can impair visibility in the rain and increase the risk of an accident. In the Alfa Romeo Tonale with a production date of 15 September 2022 – 26 August 2023, the nuts on the 12V battery charging cable, both earth cables and the two high voltage connectors may be missing or incorrectly tightened. This can cause a temperature rise at the connection point and increase fire risk.

Steering on Skoda Octavia, Isofix on Peugeot 308

On Octavia IVs and Octavia IV Combis produced in the two weeks of April 2023, the left steering knuckle may be defective, affecting suspension and handling. The vehicle’s stability may be impaired, increasing the risk of an accident. Peugeot 308s manufactured on 4 April 2018 may have poorly welded ISOFIX mounts on the right rear seat. The lower anchorage may have no restraining effect, and the child seat may not be adequately secured.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
