Poorly welded brake pedal with Mercedes A-Class, rare airbag defect with Suzuki Swift (week 26/19)

Mercedes-Benz-A-Class-recall-brake-pedal-welding

Three recalls for four models of two manufacturers were announced in the 26th week of 2019. Two recalls were reported by Mercedes-Benz, while one was added to the Rapex system by Suzuki.

With the A-Class Mercedes made from November 2018 to March 2019, the welding of the brake pedal plate to the brake pedal lever may not be strong enough. Applying pressure on the left side of the brake pedal might cause the pedal plate to tilt sideways. This could impair the function of the brake pedal and increase the risk of an accident.

This is not the first issue with welded parts for the A-Class. In June 2018 we saw a recall due to the missing welding points in the area of the front wheel arch and the inadequate welding of the ISOFIX child seat mounting brackets – we wrote here.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT

The second recall for Mercedes-Benz this week is for the AMG GT model and its “PRE-SAFE impulse side” system. It may have faulty software for its side radar sensors and the function may not be activated. This increases the risk of injury in the event of a side impact. Due to different security systems, the AMG GT is being recalled for the fifth time through the Rapex Alert System – see our archive.

Suzuki Swift

Closing one of the vehicle’s rear doors too hard may cause the activation of the side and curtain airbags with the Suzuki Swift from 2017 to 2019. The unexpected airbag deployment may cause injuries to the vehicle’s occupants also with the Swift Sport version. For older Swifts, we have five more recalls in our database.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
