Overview of the recalls in the 50th week of 2023

Four recalls for 11 models of four carmakers were issued via Rapex in the 50th week of 2023. Six recalls for seven models were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

Audi, BMW, Ferrari, and Toyota have one recall each at Rapex this week.

BMW, Dodge, Ford, Land Rover, and Volvo are also recalling through the KBA.

Airbags in (not only) older BMWs

The propellant in the integrated inflator of the driver’s airbag can deteriorate over time with 440,584 BMW 1 Series, 3 Series, BMW X1 a BMW X3 models manufactured between November 2003 and December 2015. If the airbag is activated, fragments from the inflator casing may injure vehicle occupants. 510 BMW X3, X4, and X5 vehicles manufactured in 2023, as well as 526 Volvo S60s from 2018 to 2023, may have a similar problem.

Poorly welded backrest frame with Audi

A defective welding seam on the front seat back frame can break in the event of an accident in 1,149 Audi A4, Audi A5, Audi Q3, Audi Q7, and Audi Q8 vehicles manufactured from 1 to 20 June 2023. As a result, the person sitting in the seat may hit their head on the B-pillar, increasing the risk of injury.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
