Defective brake pedal
Stellantis Group is recalling 68,181 cars worldwide for a faulty brake pedal assembly that can cause a brake failure. The recall affects mild-hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions of the Jeep Renegade and Compass, Fiat 500X and Alfa Romeo Tonale that rolled off the production line between July 2023 and October 2024.
Editor’s note: Skoda also used to recall Karoq and Kodiaq models due to a faulty brake pedal. This involved about 14,000 cars produced between June and August 2020. By the way, in the aforementioned 11th week of 2021, Skoda Auto had as many as three recalls.
Two Hyundai recalls
Hyundai is recalling 76,065 vehicles in the Grand Santa Fe, iX35 and Veloster model lines manufactured between 2011 and 2014. The reason for the recall is a short circuit in the ESP unit that could lead to a fire. The second recall by the Korean manufacturer concerns the new Santa Fe SUV (production year 2024). Damage to the wiring harness may cause functional limitations of the curtain airbag with 64,096 vehicles.
Mitsubishi ASX exhaust
Mitsubishi is recalling 52,870 ASX SUVs manufactured between 2011 and 2019. The reason is that cracks at the end of the muffler can cause part of the exhaust to fall onto the road while driving.
