Overview of recalls in the 44 week of 2025
Four recalls for 17 models of three brands were announced via EU Safety Gate in the 44th week of 2025. One recall for three models of one brand has been published by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).
Two recall campaigns can be found this week in the European Safety Gate system for BMW. One recall campaign has been issued for Aston Martin and Toyota.

Problematic starter
BMW is recalling virtually its entire range of combustion engine cars, which may suffer from starter motor overheating and short circuits, posing a fire risk. This affects almost 1.2 million cars manufactured between September 2015 and September 2021, as well as a further 163,000 BMWs produced between March 2018 and February 2025. A complete list of potentially affected vehicles can be found at the end of the article.
Fire during charging
Overheating and fire are also risks associated with several Audi models. In this case, however, it is the high-voltage battery and its cell modules that are to blame. These can overheat during charging, necessitating a visit to the service centre for a software update. Following the update, the battery’s values will be continuously analysed, and if an anomaly is detected again, its charging capacity will automatically be reduced until the fault is rectified. This issue could affect 53,449 vehicles in the A6, A7 and Q5 series produced between 1 August 2019 and 31 August 2024. The most expensive fire
Thirdly, regarding fires: a recall campaign for the Aston Martin Valkyrie was added to the German KBA list a week ago, and it has also appeared in the European Safety Gate database this week. Screws that are too long on the fuse box cover plate can damage the wiring harness inside, which could cause the drive, lights, power steering or other systems to fail. There is also a risk of the fuse box overheating and catching fire.
