In December 2018, 15 recalls were issued via the EU Rapex system concerning 15 models from nine automakers. Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot announced three recalls each, while Citroën and Volkswagen had two. At least one recall was reported by Bugatti, Cadillac, Kia, Maserati and Mitsubishi. 15-year-old Mitsubishi Lancer was the oldest car recalled last month.
In the last month of 2018, there were fewer recalls compared to other months. The EU Rapex alert system list was not issued in the last week of December, so we only summarize the three-week period from December 1 to 21.
The New Mercedes-Benz Sprinter had three recalls in December. The first reason was the wiring harness which may jam between the stop-lamp switch and the brake lever, while the second and third was the missing welds on the vehicle frame and the locked passenger door. The Volkswagen T-Roc was recalled twice last month. First, due to the poorly glued rear spoiler and then due to the poorly welded fitting for the headrest at the rear seat. This defect also occurred with VW’s Arteon, Passat and Golf models.
We have summed up all the recalls in our regular weekly reports. A comprehensive table is available at the end of this article. Motorcycle recalls can be found in our sister page moto-recalls.eu.
Badly welded headrests with VW, cracked belt tensioners with PSA Group (week 51/18)

Peugeot recalls the SUV 5008 and Métropolis scooters (week 49/18)
Peugeot´s SUV 5008 left the production line with poorly tightened wheel bolts for a whole week between the 24th of May and the 1st of June 2018. Although this recall may seem hardly believable, we don´t see this negligence for the first time in the Rapex list. BMW´s X5 and X6 SUV’s built between July 12 and August 2 were recalled for the same reason three weeks ago… full article
