Overview of the recalls in the 23rd week of 2025
Two recalls for five models of two makes were published via EU Safety Gate in week 23 of 2025. Two recalls for two models of five brands were released by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).
Renault and Toyota each have one recall in the European Safety Gate system this week.
Dacia and Renault are recalling via the KBA.

ABS/ESP issues
A total of 3,000 Dacia Dusters built in the summer of 2024 may have a poorly fastened rear ABS wiring harness that may rub against the tire sidewall. This can lead to ABS/ESP failure. The recall applies only to Duster 4×4 vehicles with a six-speed manual transmission. The 24,112 Renault Austral vehicles built between 2022 and 2025 may also have ABS and ESP problems. Here, the reason is incorrect programming of the control unit.
Fuel pump again
We have written several times about Toyota’s fuel pump problems and the resulting fire risk. Some cars have had to be serviced repeatedly due to this fault. Previous checks during the initial recall were inadequate, meaning around 10,000 owners of the Auris, C-HR and Corolla will have to visit the dealership again.
Once again, fuel pump problems are not rare with Japanese carmakers. Mazda, Honda, and Suzuki have also recalled hundreds of thousands of cars in the past.
Airbags
We have become accustomed to the fact that airbag recalls mostly affect older cars and are largely a consequence of the Takata airbag affair. However, Renault is recalling Master and Trafic vans manufactured in March and April 2025. This time, contamination of the airbag cover during the manufacturing process is to blame. If activated, a fragment of the driver’s airbag cover may be ejected and bounce off the windscreen, potentially hitting the driver or passenger.
