The key may become blocked with Dacia Duster, Logan and Sandero. There is a risk of a starter fire

Dacia announces a recall due to a possible blockage of the ignition key. The starter would remain powered even when the engine is running.

The defect may occur with the Dacia Sandero II, and Logan II MCV equipped with a 1.5 dCi diesel engine and manufactured at Tangier and Pitesti’s plants between 1 September 2017 to 19 October 2018.

In Dacia Duster‘s case, these are also vehicles with a 1.5 dCi engine, which rolled off the Pitesti production line between 1 September 2017 and 28 April 2018.

If the key is blocked in the starting position, the vehicle’s starter could be damaged. As a result, the vehicle may not be able to start, or the material of the starter could burn.

This is the first Dacia recall in 2021. In 2020, the manufacturer announced three recalls for three models via the EU Rapex system. Coincidentally, these were also Duster, Logan MCV and Sandero. There were problems with the brake pads, the battery cable and the seat frame – see the link below.
