BMW-i4-2024-side-member-recall-extended

This week’s recalls:
– BMW i4 – side member
– Seat – airbags
– Lamborghini – bonnet
– Porsche – isofix

Overview of the recalls in the 33rd week of 2024

Two updated recalls for three models of two manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 33 of 2024. Three recalls for three models were announced via the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system for BMW and Seat.

Audi, Lamborghini and Porsche are recalling via the KBA.

Cracks in the rear side member

BMW updates the recall due to possible cracks in the rear side member of the BMW i4. The recall was originally for about 350 cars built in April 2024, but the latest indications are that the problem will be more widespread. Nearly 3,500 cars with production dates between March 7 and May 14, 2024 are currently being recalled.

Airbags again with Seat

Last week, we reported a recall for nearly 190,000 Audi A3 and Audi A4 model series vehicles from 2004 to 2013 due to Takata airbags. This week, the recall was updated for Seat Leon and Seat Toledo models with internal code 69EC. It originally affected 463,287 cars in the Alhambra, Ateca, Ibiza, Leon and Toledo model ranges built between June 2012 and September 2017. The report has been removed from the Safety Gate system, but the recall can still be found in the German Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt – KBA database. In recent weeks, we have seen several recalls for Takata airbags with cars of various makes. You can find them all on our website under the Airbag tag.

Isofix at Porsche, bonnet at Lamborghini

Incorrect wiring of the electrical cable for the seatbelt buckle detection can lead to obstructions when installing Isofix child seats with 32,177 Porsche Taycan electric cars built between 2019 and 2021. Lamborghini is recalling 7,749 Urus SUVs built between 2020 and 2024 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is incorrectly formed bonnet rivets, which can become loose over time and cause the bonnet to unlock.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
