Seven recalls for 10 models of six carmakers were announced in the 47th week of 2018. Three recalls were issued to Toyota, while Mazda, Fiat, Lotus, Subaru, and Lexus had one action each.
Two of the three Toyota recalls are related to the airbags again. Their inflators may burst during activation and the metal fragments may pass through the cushion material causing injury to the passengers. This is the case with Toyota Avensis (2001-2006), Toyota Corolla (2001-2006), Toyota Yaris (2001-2006) and Toyota Picnic (2001). In addition to the inflator, the airbag control module for the SRS ECU and its integrated circuits susceptible to the internal short circuit may be problematic for some of the models mentioned. When the short circuit occurs, the system may be damaged and the airbags and/or safety pretensioners may be deactivated or unintentionally activated. If you own a Toyota from 2001 to 2006 and have not been contacted by an importer due to an airbag issue yet, be sure to ask for yourself – how to do it as we advise here.
The Toyota Aygo owners, who have not yet received a letter of invitation on a recall due to a poorly fitted rear door window, they too should also ask. For vehicles built between 2005 and 2014, the glass could consequently detach and only remain attached by one fixation point on the door panel or detach completely from the vehicle.
Subaru, Mazda, and Lexus
Problems with bursting airbag inflators also appeared in other Japanese cars. Mazda is recalling the Mazda6 model from 2002 to 2005 and Subaru’s Forester from 2009 to 2012. Toyota’s premium brand Lexus announces the same action for the small SC 430 cabriolet.

Lotus
For the Lotus Evora made from April to October 2018, the airbags should be okay. However, the cartridge that enables the partial collapse of the steering column in a crash might not work as expected due to an incorrectly tightened screw. This could also increase the risk of injuries to vehicle occupants in the event of an accident.
Fiat
For the Fiat 500 X, a faulty latch may cause the seatback to fold inadvertently forward. In the event of an accident, there is also a higher risk of injury to passengers. The recall affects vehicles produced between June 2, 2015 and August 17, 2018 and the internal code is 6199.
