13 models of seven car manufacturers were recalled at the 37th week of 2018 through the Rapex system. Two recalls were announced by Volkswagen, while Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Peugeot and Toyota had each one. Triumph Street Triple motorcycles are being recalled due to possible malfunctioning of the turn signal indicator and headlamp control switches.
More than a million hybrids around the world will be recalled by Toyota because of the risk of fire. Vibration during vehicle use may cause the insulation on the wires to wear over time and expose the core wire, causing an electrical short circuit with Prius, Prius Plug-in Hybrid and C-HR models manufactured between July 2015 and May 2018.
Opel a Mazda
The Opel Insignia produced from February 2017 to March 2018 is also threatened with the fire. This time due to the penetration of moisture into the central locking control unit. Short circuit and fire may also occur with the Mazda CX-3, Mazda 2 and Mazda MX-5 with a production date between 2014 and 2017. The engine control unit of the direct-current converter may be defective on selected vehicles.
Land Rover
With the hybrid Land Rover Range Rover PHEV produced between March 28, 2017 and May 25, 2018, you can get into trouble by trusting too much to the fuel level gauge. It does not work properly and will not indicate actual fuel levels below 30%. The car could run out of fuel inadvertently, causing an engine to stall.
Volkswagen
A week ago, we informed about the extended Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace recall due to the unlatched nuts on the front axle – we wrote here. After a week, the compact SUV is back, this time with a poorly folded passenger airbag. This can be found in all cars made from mid-March to mid-May 2018.
Back in February, Škoda recalled the Citigo models due to the defective towing eye in the vehicle’s toolkit – we wrote here. A poorly welded towing eye could break off and the towing rope may hit people or objects around also with VW Polo and VW Up! made between the 1st October 2015 and 29th October 2017.
Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot
Mercedes-Benz is to recall the Sprinter model due to the premature deactivation of the exit assistance after the ignition has been switched off, and Peugeot has underestimated the strength of the Expert´s 4 tow hitch bracket that can deform at the full load.
Motorcycles
At the week 37, a new motorcycle recall appears in the Rapex list. The electrical circuits in the left-hand switch cube of the Triumph´s Street Triple are sealed incorrectly. This can cause moisture to penetrate the cube, with malfunctioning of the turn signal indicator and headlamp control switches as a result.
