Thousands of Mini models may catch fire due to EGR cooler

Mini-Cooper-2010-2022-egr-cooler-fire

Mini is recalling 73,398 + 103,672 Cooper, Cabrio, Clubman and Countryman vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2022 to authorized workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that a leak in the exhaust gas recirculation module (EGR) can lead to a vehicle fire.

We wrote about this recall a few months ago. At that time, 20,642 vehicles were recalled in Germany alone. Now the recall has been extended and thousands more vehicles are being recalled worldwide.

In an authorised workshop, the EGR cooler will be checked and, if necessary, replaced with an optimised version.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under two reference numbers “14313R(73,398 vehicles) and “14439R(103,672 vehicles). The internal manufacturer code is “0011370700“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
