Overview of recalls in the 21 week of 2025
Four recalls for three models of three makes were announced via EU Safety Gate in the 21 week of 2025. Eleven recalls for 17 models of nine manufacturers were published by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).
Two recalls have been issued by Mazda, and one each by Ford and Chrysler in the European Safety Gate system this week.
Citroen, Dodge, Fiat, Hyundai, Chrysler, Jeep, Kia, Opel and Peugeot are all recalling through the German KBA.

Stellantis
The automotive group Stellantis currently oversees 14 brands from Europe and the United States. In week 21, it issued recalls affecting half of its portfolio. One of the main advantages of large automotive conglomerates is production efficiency, achieved by sharing common technological solutions and model platforms across multiple brands. However, when manufacturing defects occur and recalls are necessary, this otherwise beneficial ‘unification’ of production can have a downside: multiple brands within the group are affected simultaneously, often leading to a large number of recalls.
Incorrect seat installation
Four Stellantis brands — Opel, Fiat, Peugeot, and Citroën — are recalling several van models due to incorrect installation of seats in the first and/or second row. In the event of an accident, the seats may move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury to passengers. The recall affects a total of 13,384 vehicles, including the Fiat Scudo and Ulysse, Peugeot Expert and Traveller, Citroën Jumpy and Spacetourer, and Opel Vivaro and Zafira, manufactured between August 28 and October 8, 2024.
Head airbags
Two American carmakers, also part of the Stellantis Group, are recalling more than 300,000 vehicles — specifically the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger — due to a shared defect in the head airbags. Corrosion and cyclic thermal stress may cause the airbag inflator to rupture, allowing pressurized gas to escape. The recall affects vehicles manufactured between 2017 and 2021. Repairs will be carried out at authorized workshops, where the affected airbag modules will be replaced.
Fire risk due to leak
Hyundai is recalling 64,915 older Genesis models manufactured between 2013 and 2016 due to insufficient sealing, which may allow water to enter the starter relay. In extreme cases, this could lead to a short circuit and potentially cause a vehicle fire. The remedy is simple: the starter relay will be replaced at an authorized workshops.
