Steel wheels recall for VW, Skoda and Seat vehicles

alcar-wheels-recall-vw-skoda-seat

The Austrian company Alcar Wheels recalls steel rims with standard tyre pressure monitoring system, with which many vehicles of the Volkswagen Group (VW, Skoda, Seat) have been retrofitted.

Due to a defect in the material, under certain conditions, sudden leakage of air from the tyres may occur. This could lead to limited vehicle handling and consequently to an accident. Even warning the driver through a tyre pressure monitoring system might not happen in time.

Failure occurs with 6J X 15 steel rims with product number 7755 and manufacturing date 17/18. Car owners with mentioned rims should immediately visit an authorized workshop, while the vehicle may no longer be used.

Alcar has released a short video briefing on how owners can verify that the recall is concerning their wheels. If so, they will get a new set free of charge at an authorized service center.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
