Risk of fire when charging Audi A6, A7 and Q5 TFSI-e hybrids

audi-tfsi-e-fire-risk-kba

Audi is recalling 44,059 vehicles of the A6, A7 and Q5 TFSI-e model series manufactured between 2021 and 2023. The reason for the recall is that during the charging process the high-voltage battery may overheat due to a defect in the battery modules. This could cause a fire and injury to the occupants and bystanders.

At an authorised workshop, vehicles that are not subject to online monitoring and vehicles that show anomalies during online monitoring will have on-board diagnostic software installed, if available, and the high-voltage battery or individual battery modules replaced, if necessary.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14586R“. The internal manufacturer code is “93AB“.

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
