Overview of recalls in the 36 week of 2025
Seven recalls for 24 models of six brands were announced via EU Safety Gate in the 36 week of 2025. Two recalls for 8 models of two brands have been published by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).
Two recall campaigns can be found this week in the European Safety Gate system for Peugeot. One recall campaign has been issued by each of the following brands: Citroen, DS, Hyundai, Jeep and Lancia.
Through the German KBA, the BMW, Mercedes-Benz carmakers are recalling.

Airbags
The Jeep and Lancia brands are part of the Stellantis Group, but this week’s recalls fall in a period when that wasn’t the case. Jeep Wrangler models from 2006 to 2015 and Lancia Thema from 2011 to 2012 have a shared issue: dangerous airbags. When activated, the airbags could rupture and eject shrapnel towards the occupants of the vehicle, causing serious or even fatal injuries. Both manufacturers have warned owners of the affected cars to stop using them immediately. You can find VIN code ranges by clicking on the model name above. Citroën C3 and DS3 owners were recently issued the same warning.
The light doesn’t come on when it should
The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL), also known as the ‘check engine’ light, is an orange dashboard indicator that illuminates when the engine control unit detects an issue with the engine, drivetrain or emission control system. Several hundred thousand Citroën, DS and Peugeot cars have been recalled for the second time due to an issue with the illumination of the light (see the table at the end of the article). Two years ago, the recall was due to a software error in the engine control unit that prevented the light from illuminating when the urea injection stopped working. The same symptoms were linked to a new recall that was announced this week. Even if the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and/or Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) diagnostic systems fail, the warning light will not illuminate.
Too low temperature
Among the cars that have been recalled for the check engine light is the 2018 to 2024 Peugeot 308. Older models built before 2018 may have an additional issue. These models have exhaust temperatures that are too low, which reduces the efficiency of the catalytic converter. The recall affects 24,123 vehicles with a 1.6-litre Euro 6b engine.
