Due to a defective main fuse, in the event of an accident involving airbag deployment, the fuel pump is not switched off as intended. As a result, the fuel pump could continue conveying fuel, increasing the risk of fire.

The Volkswagen Tiguan models with a 2.0 TDI Biturbo engine affected by this recall were manufactured between 28 August 2017 and 21 June 2018.
